Here We Come A-Caroling!
Join the 3F Youth Group on Sunday, December 16 to bring some Christmas cheer to our home bound members and those in nursing homes as we lift our voices with joyous Christmas carols and songs. After worship we’ll have lunch (which will be provided) and then depart for a couple of hours of spreading Christmas joy! Call the Church office to let us know you are joining us.
YOUTH GROUP OUTING
Get ready to spread the joy of the Christmas season through song! The 3F Youth Group, choir members and anyone else is invited to go caroling on Sunday, December 16th after church. We’ll start with lunch at the church which will be provided and then carpool to local nursing homes and homes of our church member shut-ins to bring them some Christmas cheer. Please sign up on the clipboard or call the church office so we know how many to plan for lunch. Please indicate if you’re willing to drive.
CHRISTMAS COOKIE SALE
The Christmas cookie sale is going great-123 lbs have been sold so far. Last year we had 36 bakers & sold approximately 105 lbs. So far we have 23 people signed up to bake this year. We would really appreciate having some more bakers to help us fulfill these orders. Please let the office know if you are able to help. Cookies may be dropped off on Saturday December 8th from 9:00am-12:00pm. If needed, a Friday drop off time could be arranged. Cookie orders may be picked up after worship on Sunday December 9th until 3:00pm.
POINSETTIA TIME!
It’s the most wonderful time of year—Christmas. We will soon be singing beloved carols, baking cookies, shopping for gifts, and decking the halls in celebration of Jesus’ birth. Help us deck the Church sanctuary with the festive colors of Christmas poinsettias. The price for each poinsettia has been reduced this year to only $7! Choose from three colors: red, white and pink. Sign up sheets will be available Sunday, November 4. Deadline for ordering poinsettias is Sunday, December 2.
CHURCH YOUTH GROUP: THE 3F CLUB
Somers Community Church has a youth group—The 3F Club (fun, fellowship and faith). Six youth their parents and siblings met at the Church after worship on October 7 to brainstorm the name and what the group wanted to do. We have an additional 4-6 youth who are interested in participating. They came up with enough ideas for years to come including glow-in-the-dark bowling, cooking, lock-in at the Church, roller skating, ice skating, movie night, game night, Christmas caroling at nursing homes and a whole lot of other fun activities! The 3F Club’s first outing was to go as a group to the Civil War Museum’s new Halloween Event, “Hunt for Vampires”, on Saturday, October 27. We will try to meet each month. Stay tuned to the website and Facebook for future activities. If you are interested in joining us, call the Church Office at 262-914-9120.
İMUCHAS GRACIAS!
A BIG thank you to everyone who helped to make “Taco-tober” a success! Thank you to everyone who donated food, money and baked goods, who worked in the kitchen and the dining room, who sold tickets and staffed the bake sale. Special thanks to Joyce Duesing who donated 3 quilts for the raffle. Congratulations to Phyllis Borger, Jane Fahey, and Terri Lee on winning the quilts. Thanks to the Jerry Smith Pumpkin Farm for donating pumpkins and gourds for the table centerpieces. Congratulations to the 8 lucky kids who won the pumpkins! Though the profit wasn’t huge the goal of the event was met—to build a stronger relationship with the families and staff of Busy Bee Day Care. The biggest thanks goes to Gaylene Garcia of Busy Bee who planned the menu, made 5 different salsas, cooked the refried beans, donated cookies, got the desserts donated and oversaw the kitchen throughout the event. Thank you everyone! What great teamwork!!
